Alex Rodriguez-Gomez
The Enduring Presence 2023 exhibition was on display at Haverford College’s White Gallery (in Lutnick Library) from January to July 2023, each object graciously loaned to the College by members or close friends of the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania. Bearing in mind that temporarily residing at Haverford, the items risked being alienated by a ‘traditional’ gallery with white walls and clear glass cases, thus the physical space of the gallery was arranged to look and feel as home-like as possible with the Lenapehoking – homeland of the Lenape – just outside the windows. The photographs capture the items outdoors, but still at home.
