Title
World War 1 War Bonds Advertisement
Description
A poster advertising "Liberty Loans" early on in the United States' involvement in World War I. With the Statue of Liberty in the background looming over the ferries heading towards the Ellis Island, this poster was aimed at recent immigrants and their families to exploit their newfound patriotism through the first major monument they most likely saw firsthand. As David Nye explained, this poster existed when US society accepted the Statue of Liberty as a national figure and worthy of embodying patriotism. - Bradford Gladstone
