Women's Suffrage Parade 1913

Dublin Core

Title

Women's Suffrage Parade 1913

Description

The first image is the colorful program of the procession in Wasshington D.C. on March 3, 1913. The second image is a lawyer Inez Milholland Boissevain on a horse, about to lead the procession. Looking at these two images side-by-side, it is possible to compare the idealistic imagery around the suffrage movement with the real photographic evidence. Both images contain women on horseback, high above the men around them. This is very symbolic of the power that women were fighting to claim.
