The Corn Palace, Sioux City, Iowa, 1887. Designed by Edward W. Loft, the structure was made of corn stalks, husks, and silks. It attracted thousands of tourists and promoted Iowa agriculture.

This star was on a Confederate flag of the 13th Alabama that was captured during Pickett's Charge at the Battle of Gettysburg. The star was collected by Pvt. Bernard McCarren of the 1st Delaware who captured the flag.
