Portrait of College Football Team, The "Pirates," in Partial Uniform, and with Man in Business Suit 1879

The picture itself is fairly "uneventful" the photo simply shows a team of Native Americans in their college football team. I believe that the strongest message that this imagery exhibits is that it shows the complete transition of culture for these Native Americans. No longer are they a part of the "stereotypical" Native that is presented in images. But they seem almost completely converted and I feel this way because of their clothes, their hair, the very sport they are playing. All of which are Western ideals. However I find their cold face reminiscent of older Native photos.
