Title
Indian Fisherman Animation of 1893 Columbian Exposition
Description
This picture is not a high detail photograph but rather an animation regarding what is expected to be seen at the Fair. The picture shows two men in a fishing boat, one actively fishing with a harpoon, another using a paddle to move the boat.
My first thought upon seeing the photo was thinking about the propaganda that the Americans used to prove that there is a cultural hierarchy, and I felt that images like these made a spectacle out of people who where different culturally. The Natives are smiling, content with their status and are fairly general in their clothing (no specific details regarding culture or anything) so its fair to say that the person who drew this picture probably had little/no knowledge on how to draw these people.
