The Past and the Future

Chromolithograph by Thomas Nast. Nast was a famous cartoonist in the nineteenth century. This image was first published in Harper's Weekly, Jamuary 24, 1864.  It was reproduced as a chromolithograph and sold at the Great Central Fair, also know as the Sanitary Fair.
